Cardiovascular training or "aerobics" is any type of exercise activity that uses large muscle groups, increases the workload of the heart and lungs (oxygen demand) and rhythmically continues for a period of 20 minutes or longer. The idea of increasing oxygen demand is to bring the cardiovascular workload up to training intensities between 60-80% of maximal heart rate. However, specific goals require different training strategies. That said, the initial goal is to simply get moving - from there, specific training strategies can be developed based upon the desired outcomes!

Cardiovascular training serves as the foundation for effective fitness programming as well as improved performance in nearly all athletic endeavors.
